Guardian cooldown acceleration when switching phones

I suggest to enable an acceleration of the guardian cooldown period when you i.e. change your phone/ operating system (Android/ iOS).
I recently changed to iOS and need to wait 20 days till I can leverage xPortal again which tremendously reduces my UX as I can’t sign transactions.

I suggest to link a guardian cooldown acceleration to a ID verification (KYC) to proof the ownership of the respective ERD.

Process:

  1. ERD is KYC’ed
  2. Guardian setup change is requested
  3. 20 days cooldown is initiated
  4. User requests an immediate cooldown
  5. User passes an additional KYC to proof the ownership of the ERD

This will mitigate waiting periods when i.e. changing the phone

you could as well confirm the guardian change with the previous device, and then it becomes instant change.

Or, isn’t it possible to just deactivate the Guardian on the old phone, where you still have the Guardian, and then switch to the new phone and create a new guardian? Done?

it is possible, but the difference is you need to wait 20 days until you can activate the new guardian on the new phone in this flow
